Mesquite Family Dentistry has been a staple in the community for over 30 years! We have certainly proven to our existing patients that we are dedicated to providing unheralded quality dental care. And they appreciate our compassionate and caring staff.
If you’re in need of a simple cleaning, or a filling or crown, we’re here for you! We offer the following general dental services:
Dental cleanings, also called “prophylaxis” is the treatment used to clean the entire mouth – teeth and gums. It’s a preventative treatment, which works best when done regularly to halt the progression of gingivitis and periodontal disease. It also removes plaque and tartar. Most patients don’t know that even with proper tooth brushing at home, as well as flossing regularly, it’s not possible to remove ALL of the bacteria that lays in the gum pockets.
Cleanings give our patients a healthier, better smile. It can remove stains on the teeth, and have a “teeth whitening” like result. It can also result in fresher breath (not just the day of the cleaning) since it removes the bacteria causing the bad breath.
Mesquite Family Dentistry recommends a cleaning twice a year, and every 3 months for our patients with periodontal disease, until it is resolved.
Our practice does not use mercury fillings! In fact, if you are one of many patients who still have silver fillings from long ago, we can help remove them safely, and replace them with tooth-colored restorations. By using Porcelain inlays, we can leave your tooth strong, yet beautiful/unnoticeable.
If you feel you’re “prone” to cavities, you might be a good candidate for dental sealants. They are extremely effective at preventing tooth decay. It takes a very simple procedure which can be done in one appointment.
Sealants use an acrylic coating which is placed into the grooves of the teeth. This coating acts as a barrier between the tooth and root, and plaque and acids which erode the tooth. They protect the deep facets of the tooth which you simply cannot reach with brushing and flossing.
We can apply dental sealants to children and adults alike. They are recommended for anyone looking to prevent tooth decay with more than just regular oral hygiene.
Non-Surgical Root Canals
Believe it or not, root canals are one of the most common procedures that dentists perform year after year! The term can have negative connotations, but it is actually a very simple procedure which can leave you with your natural teeth intact, and prevent you from needing an implant. And that is a huge benefit!
Inside your tooth, you’ll find pulp, which is a conglomerate of blood vessels. This center section can get infected by tooth decay, cracks or chip, or poor dental hygiene. This can cause sensitivity or pain, even swelling! To remove the infected part of the pulp, we perform a non-surgical procedure. With the use of local anesthetic, most patients find it comfortable, but we do also offer nitrous oxide for patients who prefer to be sedated further.
